18c Antique Dutch Holland Jewish Brass Menorah Lions Grapes Flowers Judaica For Sale
9.75 inches high, 9 inches wide. Weighs 2 pounds. 4.6 ounces. Dates to the 18th century from Holland.
95% of "sheet brass" Dutch menorahs that are offered, even if 18th century is stated, really are 19th century. Those examples usually are made of thin brass, and the execution in the details tend not to be fine. The menorah I am offering however is one of those high quality, 18th century examples. The brass is quite thick, the details are extremely well done, even the oil pans, are very well cast and are original, and they are not removable because of the hand made center nut that has it locked in, as well as the two thick pins on the sides that are also, locked in (see second-to-last photo).
Last photo is from Sotheby's December 2007 sale, which had a very similarly-designed menorah hammer at $9,000, with the winning buyer having to pay $10,800 including the buyers premium (that lot is still on the Sotheby's website, which shows the price I stated, if you need a link to see it write me and I'll send it to you)
