"An Act for restraining, correcting, suppressing and punishing rogues, vagabonds, common beggars, and other lewd, idle, dissolute, profane and disorderly persons; and for setting them to work..."

4p [leafs ], a complete Act and Law from a series of other Acts and Laws., complete to itself and lays out the punishment for all types of persons found within the town limits. Those that are the worst will be taken and given 30 flogs upon his naked body [ and this was done in public at the town stocks ].

The Act and Law directs the towns to build a house of correction, where they can put idle children or abused children. Here they will be actively employed until they reach a proper age., ..."all persons using or pretending to use any subtle craft, juggling, or unlawful games or plays, or feigning themselves to have knowledge in Physiognomy, Palmistry, or pretending then can tell destinies, fortunes, or discover where lost or stolen good may be found"....[ they will be taken or arrested and fined as the court see fit ]., and, much much more. Absolutely genuine 18th Century Act and Law on controlling behavior.

CONDITION: disboundin very good-plus condition, light age-toning and well-preserved 4pp from theFederal era of the government prior to the writing of the Constitution. This is nicelyinserted into an acid free presentation folder with appropriate label. To include research on this Act and Law and the punishments used in New-England at the time. Also history of the hand presses used in publishing this original leaf. This is indeed an excellent original example of colonial printing and the laws.

A very fine and scarce genuine colonial American document.
