A complete Act and Law that details what to do when a person is found guilty of slander or defamation. Stating that this is a growing evil, and tends much to the disturbance of the Peace.

Particularly deals with Negroes, Indians and Mulatto-slaves that slander their masters or mistresses. If they are found guilty of the charge, they are to be publicly whipped not to exceed 40 stripes. Much more.

CONDITION: disbound leaf in very good-plus condition, light age-toning, foxingand well-preserved 2ppAct and Lawfrom the early Federal era when the United States was only a few years old. From the state of Massachusetts,this Act and Law nicely inserted into an acid free presentation folder with appropriate label. No odors.

To include research on this Act and Law and the punishments used in New-England at the time. Also history of the hand presses used in publishing this original leaf. This is indeed an excellent original example of colonial handprinted Acts and the laws.
