Handsome vintage hand colored collotype late Meiji era (1900-1907) Japanese postcard titled View of O-Ta Yokohama published by Tamboya. Tokutaro Maeda, founder of Kamigataya Publishing is said to have hired the Japanese photographer Takaji Hotta of the Adolfo Farsari Studio to make many of the images for these early views. Undivided back, not used postally, bright condition with light impressions at corners form album mounts, hand applied color, light rubbing to address side, dragonfly stamp box. Measures 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches. This card shows an uncommon early view of a boat on the canal at O-Ta, Yokohama, Japan.
