1900 President William Mckinley Presidential Campaign Ribbon Badge W/ 1.75" Pin For Sale

1900 President William Mckinley Presidential Campaign Ribbon Badge W/ 1.75

Rare and quite impressive, ca1900, William McKinley, 1 3/4" Celluloid Presidential Campaign Pin / Ribbon Badge with attached silk American Flag form hanger and red, white and blue bunting bow and stud.

This outstanding Presidential Campaign Badge is made up of four elements. The first is a Celluloid Portrait Pin that measures approx. 1 3/4" in diameter and features an albumen photo portrait of McKinley and a tin backing. The "pin" is attached by a very large, American Flag form silk Ribbon to a silk bow at the top of the Badge made of red, white and blue silk ribbon. At the center of the bow there is a fabric covered stud-form pin with a long, stickpin style pin back that forms the pin attachment of the badge. This stud / pin has a woven silk covering that also resembles an American Flag.

Overall the Badge measures approx. 5" long and 3" across at the top. Although we have encountered the Celluloid Pin element of this Badge before we have never seen the entire Badge as constructed here.

This rare and very striking, turn of the century Presidential Campaign Pin / Ribbon Badge is in very good condition. The Celluloid Pin is clean and crisp with no physical damage of any kind although the portrait is somewhat toned (perhaps "as manufactured"). The Flag form silk ribbon from which the portrait hands is clean and crisp and very well preserved with no fraying or wear of any kind while the bow shaped top element does exhibit some light soiling and light edge wear. The woven silk covered stud / pin at the center of the top of the Badge also exhibits some light soiling and some fraying to the flag form fabric cover (see the scans below).

A rare and very impressive, ca1900 large size William McKinley Presidential Campaign Ribbon Badge / Pin and a fantastic addition to any political collection!!
