It was struck at the St. Petersburg mint and dated 1902.

Russia began striking this design in 1867 during the reign of Alexander II. It was struck with 44 different dates up to 1914 at the end of the monarchy. According to the Krause catalog this coin is far and away the \"Key Date\" for the entire series. As a comparison only, and quoting the lowest value listed, the 1902 is $200.00. The next highest coin, is valued at $30. And that is for the 1867 date, in the same condition.

Obverse: Cyrillic legends around Crowned, double-headed Russian Imperial Eagle holding Orb and Scepter. There are eight shields on its wings representing: Arms of the Kazan Kingdom. Arms of the Astrakhan Kingdom. Arms of the Kingdom of Poland. Arms of the Siberian Kingdom. Arms of the Kingdom of Tauric Chersonesus. Arms of the Kingdom of Georgia. Arms of the Great Principalities of Kiev, Novgorod and Vladimir. And Arms of the Great Principality of Finland. Larger Shield of Arms showing Saint George killing the Dragon on its breast is the emblem of Moscow. It is surrounded by the chain of the Order of St. Andrew.

The Coin: A veteran example, it passed through some hands, one of which attempted to clean it up. Then it sat somewhere for a long time. As grading is subjective please see the pictures and judge for yourself.
