1904 Lithograph Tin Tray Indian Brave Birch Canoe Paddleboat Steam Locomotive:
This is a multicolor lithographed tin tray celebrating the 1803-1903 Centennial of the Louisiana Purchase. This was the theme for the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. The borders of the tray have the buffalo, settlers in covered wagons, Native Americans, and steam locomotives that were featured motifs on other Lousiana Purchase Exposition souviner wear. This tray is the actual tray pictured in Hendershott 64-1730.
TheBravelooking over the riveris the central motif and is a view across ariver to a river paddleboat. The colors are bright but there are losses to the paint as shown in pictures. The losses are on edges also. The tray sits flat.
(Please check my other sale for the companion tray, also the exact piece from Hendershott's book.)
