1910's Velvet Ice Cream Tin Litho Advertising Serving Tray - Wisconsin Dairy For Sale
Wonderful, original and very rare, 1910’s, Tin Lithographed Advertising Serving Tray for Velvet Brand Ice Cream (manufactured by the Kennedy Dairy Company of Madison, Wisconsin) featuring a fantastic image of children gathered around a table having an elaborate Ice Cream Party. This very attractive, Ice Cream / Dairy, Advertising Serving Tray measures approx. 13 1/2" in diameter and is unsigned by the manufacturer.
The Tray features a charming central image of 10 children mostly seated around a large round table having an Ice Cream Party. The boys and girls wear party hats and play with party favors. In the center of the table is a huge silver serving platter with mounds of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream and each of the children have their own dish of ice cream which they are obviously enjoying immensely. While 9 of the children sit around the table playing and enjoying their ice cream, the 10th, a lovely little girl, has stepped away from the table and is feeding a puppy dog ice cream from her spoon!! The raised rim of the Tray features a wonderful Art Nouveau design and text that reads “Velvet Ice Cream / Kennedy Dairy Co, Madison Wis.” at the top and bottom and “It’s All Cream” on each side.
This wonderful 1910’s Kennedy Dairy Co. Ice Cream Advertising Serving Tray is not a reproduction, reissue or restrike but is an original Tin Lithograph Serving Tray manufactured in the early 20th century to promote the sale of their Velvet Brand Ice Cream.
This outstanding, 1921's Advertising Ice Cream Serving Tray is in very good condition to excellent - the lithography is bright and vibrant and the Tray displays beautifully. There are less than a handful of small and scattered surface nicks to the image area as well as a few tiny spots of light staining but no significant wear or major areas of surface loss or scuffing - no significant damage and no repairs of any kind to the central image area. There is some unobtrusive, light wear and a few surface scratches to the rolled rim and 2 small spots of wear at the base of the raised rim at approx 6 o‘clock (see the scans below). The back of the Tray has some light wear only. Please see the scans below for a good indication of the condition of this wonderful, early 20th century Ice Cream Advertising Tray.
