1911 Royal Doulton Greenlees Claymore Kingsware Scotch Robert Burns Tam Oshanter For SaleHere is a Royal Doulton Kingsware whiskey jug with a quote from the Robert Burns poem written in 1790 titled 'Tam O'Shanter'. It is embossed 'Tam O'Shanter Pursued by the Witch ~ Burns'. This relates to the witch named Nannie who chased Tam on his way home after a night at the pub. He was astride his horse, Meg, whose tail was grabbed by the witch and ripped off. Dated 1911 on the reverse side and marked on the base 'Greenlees Brothers Claymore Scotch Whiskey Distillers' and the Royal Doulton mark. There is an old, small repair to the lip. Otherwise, in excellent condition, nicely glaze-crazed over 100 years. No other cracks, chips or damage. White glare marks are from the camera..
