Pickard China Catalog
This is a beautifully reproduced early catalog from the well-known Chicago firm, Pickard China, during its Arts and Crafts period when they were called "Pickard Studios". There are 32 pages with many pieces in a variety of shapes, colors, and methods of decoration.
Pieces of various patterns are pictured both in photographs and drawings. The photographs are accompanied by descriptions of how the decorative designs were developed, as well as the philosophy behind the choices of color in the decoration.
This catalog also includes descriptions and drawings of methods of serving, and also lists suggested recipes. At the time this catalog was produced, china, silver, and glassware firms often issued catalogs under the title "Correct Table Service". This catalog is an example of that advertising genre.
Many, many items are pictured, including pitchers, goblets, vases, dinnerware of all types, serving pieces, punch sets, and many others.
We have digitally reproduced and restored our original catalog at an extremely high resolution, and printed the black & white and color pages on heavy archival paper stocks. This is not a photocopy - our methods allow us to retain an unusual image clarity and depth of detail, sometimes limited only by the production values of the original. Some of our fine reproduction catalogs are already in museum research collections.
This reproduction catalog is meant to be a permanent reference. Its true spiral binding, unlike a comb binding, allows this book to remain unharmed when left open at the desired place. The front and back covers are printed on heavy cover stock, protected by sturdy clear vinyl outer covers.
