1912 Tin Lithograph Advertising / Serving Tray W/ Boys Fishing Rockwell-esque:
Beautiful, original, 1912, Tin Lithographed, Serving Tray in the style of the Giveaway / Premium / Advertising Serving Tray's of the period but without commercial advertising. This wonderful Tin Litho Tray measures 13" by 10 1/2" and features a fantastic Norman Rockwell-style image of three boys fishing. One of the boys appears to be telling the other two about "The Big One" that got away!!
The Tray is titled "The Fish Story - No.125" and is copyright 1912 by the American Art Works Company of Coshocton, Ohio. This is surely a very rare, stock Tray which could be ordered with or without advertising copy. The chromolithography is of the very highest quality as would be expected from the outstanding craftsmen employed by this premier maker of tin lithographed advertising items.
This beautiful 1912 Premium / Advertising Tray is not a reproduction, reissue or restrike but is an original, turn of the 20th century Tin Lithograph Tray manufactured by the American Art Works Company as a stock item. We have handled hundreds of Tin Litho Advertising Trays over the past 33+ years but have never encountered this beautiful Tray before and believe it to be very rare.
This very attractive, turn of the 20th century, Tin Litho Premium / Advertising Tray is in very good condition - the lithography is beautiful and the Tray makes an outstanding display piece. There are some small and scattered surface blemishes which are mostly confined to the wide, rising border area and some scattered nicks to the rolled rim but overall the Tray is well preserved and displays beautifully. The back side of the tray has some wear as can be seen in the scans below.
A rare and very attractive, 1912 Tin Lithograph, Premium Giveaway / Advertising Serving Tray and a fantastic addition to any collection!!!
