Adorable 4 3/4 inch tall Rose O'Neill's bisque Kewpie doll with tiny blue wingsin as found pre-owned condition. From what we can find outRose O'Neill obtained the first patentfor the Kewpie doll in 1913 and they were made in Germany but when the war broke out in 1914 shipments were cut off. This little guy has his sword in his right hand and the scabbard on his left side. He wears the molded Prussian infantry helmet with an eagle. His helmet has the eagle holding something in each of his talons and has what looks like a shield in the middle. This Kewpie has the red and gold Kewpie/Germany paper sticker on his chest and the round patent paper sticker on his back. He is not mint as he has some stray black paint dots, somecolor rubbed off the rim of his helmet and a very,very faint line running from the tip of the red paper sticker on his bellyto the top of his left foot.
