classic that keeps you up on the black keys, this 1914 sheet music Climax
Rag was composed by the inimitable James Scott and published by Stark Music Co. of St.
Louis, Missouri. Its back
page lists other Stark offerings written by E.J. Stark himself, Scott Joplin,
E.J. Mellinger, B.R. Whitlow, et al. The four pages of piano solo music – with “Not too fast” tempo instruction – begin in
four-flats, change to five-flats, and return to four-flats to finish Scott's composition. The dark-blue 10¼” x 13¼” edition is in very good condition with spine
intact, light soiling, light wrinkling, softly worn corners, light signs of
use, a 3/4" tear on bottom front cover, a few tiny outer edge nicks, and
no store stamps. It has a handwritten owner's signature on the top right front
cover.
