1914 VERY RARE ZEPPELIN BOMBING FRANCE SELDOM EVER OFFERED STRUCK IN ZINC #114:
$149.00
From an original small, but important airship collection I bought from an old retired Marine Corps office quite a few years ago. Most are gone, but still have a few items to go.This isstruck in zinc 33.5 mm medal. Most of these are cast, but this one is struck. Kaiser lists a zinc aftercast only. This medal sold in the Dr Kallir sale of airship medals in 1999 held at the World Trade Center in New York. Perhaps not this medal, but thesame variety. It had a minimum offer of $150 with an estimate of $450. I no longer remember what it sold for but most of the rare medals went for more than estimate. I have had mine so long I can ask for much less and still be happy. Dated 1914with the obverse having a bust of Graf Ferd. V. Zeppelin. The reverse has a zeppelin in a bombing raid against a French city with some bomb hits below. Smoke coming from the sides of the zeppelin which I hope is not poison gas. Legend around Our Zeppelin againstFrance. A rare struck medal. Maker is M. & W.Not much if any wear.See the scans. Buyer to add $3 for insured shipping. Paypal, or check.
I had this medal for sale at $300, but decided to try selling it atsale startingat much less than what it is worth. Hope I didn\'t make a mistake
