1917 STERLING SILVER & EBONY WOOD HAIRBRUSH ANTIQUE HAIR BRUSH VINTAGE WOODEN:

DESCRIPTION:

An ebony wood hairbrush with its original real bristles and silver embellishment. The silver has a vacant cartouche surrounded with decorative engravings and is hallmarked London 1917, the maker\'s mark should be P&E however the hallmark has not stamped well. It measures 9 inches long, 2.25 inches wide and has \'REAL EBONY\' stamped to the handle.

This extremely slow growing hardwood was imported from British India and was a popular vanity set material with both men and women from around the turn of the century to the mid 1920s, when the timber became too rare and expensive to be economically viable. These ebony relics of the period have been highly prized ever since.

CONDITION:

The ebony is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks, it has a very high polish. The silver is in excellent condition with no missing fixing pins. The bristles are clean and firm with no loss.
