1920s Brown Knit Flapper Purse Handbag With Art Deco Amber Lucite Frame:

A 1920s brown flapper purse or handbag with an art deco amber lucite frame. The purse is made of knitted brown cord in a complex pattern of knots, with a crochet handle made of the same cord. The bag is lined with matching brown satin and has a single pouch for a compact. The defining feature of this cute little Parisienne purse is the raised relief art deco amber lucite frame with stylized flowers, leaves and sun. The bag is the same on both sides, except for the inside where there is a pouch only on one side. There is no label. The inside of the frame is flat so that the two halves of it will lay together. The bag measures 6 1/2\" x 7\" including the frame, and the handle brings the height to 10\". The bag is sewn by hand with meticulously even stitches. Note that the color of this bag is darker and more cocoa brown than in the pictures, which look taupe. The color of the amber lucite frame is correct, but the bag is a lovely warm milk chocolate brown and not at all taupe. The purse is in excellent vintage condition with no issues. Ready to go! This is NOT a reproduction. This purse was collected in Paris, France more than 25 years ago and has been carefully stored ever since.
