1920's Flapper Dress Made Entirely Of Jet Glass Beads. Weight 3 1/2 Poundslbs For Sale
1920'w Vintage Antique Flapper Dress!
This is a wonderful dress! It is made entirely of jet black beads.
There are thousands and thousands of glass beads
is a revealing dress, probably worn over a white or black under dress.
The photos do not do this dress
- considering that this dress is close to 100 years old it is amazing!
Most glass beaded dresses I have seen from this time period are shredded
and have not held up well due to the heavy glass
beads. This one has held up pretty well, but, there are some condition factors you should know. The front neckline needs to be resewn at the shoulders. there are a few beads missing from the neckline. I will include extra beads to assist in this. It looks like there has
been some strength stitching where the hooks are.
I know it looks like a mess of beads, but I will explain how it works. The front has cap sleeves, and a necklace type decoration of jet hanging down and attached at the shoulders (needs reinforcement there). It is woven down the front under this neck piece and across both sides in Jet. One side is very long and comes around your waist and hoods onto the other side. so the back is on a diagonal and the woven section goes below your butt. Then there is 6" long hanging jet fringe in the back. The front has 27" fringe that swings with every movement and looks fantastic.
I have put up pictures showing it closed, opened up totally, and other pictures showing it the best I can. This would look lovely over a lined chiffon dress.
Any questions please write me.
