WOW! STARTS AT JUST $99& LISTED WITH PRICE! Circa: 1920's.VINTAGE TOP COLLECTOR QUALITY NATIVE AMERICAN NAVAJO FIGURAL "YEI" RUGhaving a BLANKET WEAVE HANDLE and LAZY LINES. The size is: 31" x 51" (2'-7" x 4'-3", 79 x 130 cm). Circa: 1925. An early vintage oldNavajo pictorial weaving from the 1920's exhibiting spirit intermediaries in theform of four, arrow bodied, lizard motifs of different sizesholding feathers. This very old top collector quality weavingcomes in a great state of preservation for its age. No rips holes, tears, or repairs in the field. There are some minor areas of broken side cord over-castings and end selvedges, but easilyremedied by a restorerif one would choose to do so (see all of the close up photos). There is a slight "A" and "B" side to the red dye (see photo 9), but no color run or bleeding. All four of the corner tassels are missing (see photo 10) and the corners show slight gouges. There are several areas of"lazy" lines in the field. This lovelyold ceremonial Navajo weaving has more of a supple, blanket-like, handle to it as compared to themore rigidfloor rugsfrom this era.The weaving comes just a bit dusty from storage with some minor stains. A professional cleaning is recommended to make the colors more vibrant and the handle softer. However, the weaving can be displayed just as it is. It makes an absolutelywonderful and visually pleasingantiqueNative American tribal textile art statement when displayed as a decorative wall hanging.I have not been able to find another similarly designed early 20th centurypictorial weaving with design elements like this oldexamplein all of the rug book literature on antiqueNavajoweavings.
