Silver dressed and molded clown on a quarter moon.
Clown has a flesh colored face... black eyes, and red lips.
It is riding in the quarter moon, and is hanging on.. really a neat characterization.
Red lacquered quarter moon, with indented silver star in front.
Another large gold embossed gold lacquered indented star in the back.
A little tiny bit of silver wear inside at the top of the ornament.
Been that way since the 1970s when it first arrived (FLEW) into our home, and has not changed at all.
A very nice ornament.
Blown in the Gold Age of Glass Ornaments between World War I and World War II.
This was a cottage industry, a means for the Germans to make money during the winter when they could not work in the fields. The sons and fathers blew the ornaments. The girls and mom would silver the ornaments inside, and then individually paint the ornaments, and grandma would take to the train station in the spring when the others were back in the fields. Then they went to the sea coast, put on ships, and arrived in New York to be delivered across the country, and we used them to decorate our trees. The origin is Lauscha, Germany.
We are an older couple which are down-sizing, and put up one tree in our den and one in our dining room. These ornaments did not fit on the trees this year, and it seems senseless to keep them in boxes in the back closet. So hopefully new caretakers can be found for these German ornaments being listed tonight. I realize a lot of ornaments, but I have collected for over 60 years... a long time indeed. We used to decorate from 23 to 27 feather trees, between the two stories of the house, and we always had a bird tree. And this bird is one on that tree for so many Christmases.
There is nothing wrong with these Christmas ornaments These being listed today are in very good shape. They are vintage, not reproductions. I guarantee that. I start all my sales at .99 cents as it is an sale and I just never cared when I went to live sale and the saleeer started very high, and then spent time backing down to get a offer.
I am more than happy to combine postage to save money.
