Wow where to start with the history of this item!
Lets start at the end and work our way to thebeginning. Yes I know this is quite the opposite of the norm. But lets try anyways! I purchased this 3 weeks ago and have been debating on posting it or keeping it with my collection of sportsmemorabilia. But I have come to the conclusion this piece of history is out of my league and makes my collection look like chewing gum, used chewing gum. So I went to the bank and pulled out of the safety deposit box. After I am done with this listing it will be returning to the bank ASAP for safe keeping.
The estate sell I purchased was the owner of a sports store in Nashville TN he passed away and this was in his safe at his personal home. I was able to purchase the contents of the safe. There was some autograph balls and few other items. Once I found this I contacted the grandson who was living and conducting the sell to get a little history about this scorecard. He informed me that his father worked on the demolish project of Busch Stadium in St. Louis between 2004 and 2006. He found several items that was of no value to anyone in the demo. But we scanning the area and working they found closet that had been sheet rocked over while pulling wire. In it was mainly junk but boxes of records and old newspapers that most was ruined. But this he was it great shape and was allowed to keep it. He knew his father was a huge Cardinals fan and mailed it too him in Nashville. I love and respect the history behind it. Amazingly its cool that this piece of history was one wire short of being destroyed.
The age isn\'t the only amazing thing about this score card. The old advertising of companies from almost 100 years ago! Not only that but someone filled out the score card 92 years ago while at that game! Who was it, was he with his kids, alone, was it a girl a boy, someone famous, a hard worker? Who will ever know. But you keep them alive every time you look at this score card, theirhandwriting, their excitement of the game lives in this piece of history!Trulyamazing.
The political history in this advertising is remarkable also. Who are thesecandidates, did they win did they lose? Did they do a good job in office. Did one move on up to congress? Did one go toprison? Once be you own this you will be able to look into their lives and research them. You will have loads to talk about with this center piece of any sports collection.
Thisprobablybelongs in Baseballs Hall of Fame but why not with you?
