1925 KELMET CRANE TRUCK Buddy L Size Pressed Steel Antique Toy NEEDS RESTORATION:
$501.00

The first photograph is here just to show you the potential of this truck. it is one I restored many years ago. I added the spoked wheels from Julian Thomas and I had to make the clamshell dredge bucket, which was missing. This truck could also have had a cast radiator and the inside-out early style front bumper had I wanted to do it that way. The parts are readily available. This lot is a restorable Kelmet Universal Crane truck approximately 2 feet in length. It\'s rough in several areas, but has lots of potential. This toy is not for the faint of heart, because a lot of effort and considerable restoring expertise will be required. It will help to have a good knowledge of Kelmet toys, but is not absolutely essential. I have restored six or seven of these over the years and I am willing to help the buyer with any questions, with patterns, or whatever I can provide that might help. In the case of the clam bucket, I will make one for $200 (not plated) if the buyer doesn\'t want to make his own. I will provide patterns at no cost if you want to make it yourself. I am including with this truck a beautifully machined precisely correct counterweight for the clam bucket (visible with other parts in one of the last photos). I have fabricated a new set of booms for this truck which you see in the pictures. A shroud to cover the end of the booms and the pulleys will need to be fabricated from sheet steel (pattern will be included).I\'ve included some other essential parts and pieces and will try to come up with more. The cab on this truck is fairly rough, so I\'ve included an extra hood that is better, but somewhere I have a few nice 1920s Erector White truck hoods and radiators which are the exact same stampings. If I can find them before this sale ends I will include one of those instead of the extra one you see pictured with the fender hanging on it. The crane cab was originally from a Kelmet steam shovel and there are some differences between that and the dredge cab. I will be glad to provide patterns of some simple brackets that will need to be made and a diagram showing where they go. The clutch mechanism for opening and closing the bucket is probably the most difficult of the necessary pieces requiring fabrication, but it is simple enough for any decent metal craftsman to make. I have included two 90 degree Erector set gears which will be part of that setup. The crane cab will need one more coal box for the left side of the boiler. The pulley you see on the roof of the crane cab was added on at some point and is incorrect. The pivot discs on the frame and the bottom of the crane cab are aluminum castings made to replicate the original stampings. These discs are much larger than the ones on a Kelmet steam shovel. Once finished and painted, nobody will know they\'re aluminum. The rear axle setup is also cast from aluminum as are the front spindles. This has laid around for over 20 years and I\'m never going to finish it. Let\'s find out what this old truck is worth. !If you need more photos or have any questions, just ask and I\'ll get back to you as soon as I can.CONDITION: Needs total restoration - Not for the faint of heart. Please look at photos carefully to best determine condition for yourself. It will ship anywhere in the lower 48 for $25 (AK & HI more).

NOTICE: Please pay as soon as possible after sale ends.

Because of past unpleasant experiences, I do not sell outside the borders of the United States of America. No exceptions.
