1930 Jb Moore Crystal Storm Navajo Rug Native American Indian Blanket Navaho Tex For Sale
Offered here is a circa 1930 Navaho weaving that
measures 5 feet 4 inches long by 2 foot 10 inches wide or 64” x 34”. It is attributed to the Crystal Trading Post
weaving area and is in very good to excellent condition. It was handwoven by an expert weaver on a
primitive upright loom of all Native handshorn, handcarded and tightly handspun
Churro cross & Merino sheep wool, both weft & warp. Here
is a nice old J. B. Moore Storm Pattern variant with a great chisel tooth
meandering border all the way around. A
dandy old Crystal rug with all of its useful life left to go.
We obtained this vintage Native American textile on
a rug hunt in Arizona just to offer you here on . It has a tight, even weft count averaging 24
per inch and a warp count of 7 per inch.
The selvage cords are all in original excellent condition. Warp selvages are 2-spiral cords and weft
selvages are 2-spiral cords. The corners
are all four tight, original and in excellent condition. The tassels are all
four in original excellent condition.
It has not been cleaned, is fairly clean now & comes from a
non-smoking home. There is very slight
fade to the color on one side. The red
on that side has had some color restoration and there is several verylight red
smudges into some of the white and grey.
There is one place that looks to be black bleed as well. Both sides are shown in photos above but the red bleed smudges were hard to catch quite as dark as they are even though they are light. Colors in this piece of old American Indian
art are: hand carded & hand blended
natural salt & pepper grey & ivory white along with hand dyed aniline
overdyed black & cardinal red. Complete
with lazy lines, this example of collectible Native Americana is ready to
head your way. (1834AORQ)
