These photos come from one of the largest collections of original news service photos.
Most of the photographs are in great condition considering they are 20 - 100 years old.
Most show only moderate handling faults, editor\'s marks & artist \"touch-ups.\"

The majority of the photographs are fully identified and back-stamped with dates.

Some of my original photos prints have been drawn or painted over in news rooms in order to hide or highlight certain features in the image.
This was a common practice in the manipulation of photography before photoshop.
Some collectors find the painted photos more desirable and ask for those specifically, which is why we don’t always remove the paint.
Most of the paint can be removed fairly easily with a baby wipe, but if you choose to remove it,
be very careful to only touch the painted part of the photo with the wipe as photos and moisture do not mix.
Pen markings usually cannot be removed.
The best indication of condition is the scans you see on the listing which are scans of the individual photo being sold and not a stock image.
