1930's Dress Makers, Manikin Doll, Folk Doll, Hand Made Dolls, Manikin, For Sale
Manikin Doll Femalethis listing is for the one doll but I have included the last two photos to show her family. Each doll is listed separately I purchased these four dolls about 20 years ago. This one is About 16" high Along with the dolls was a note from the original owners daughter that said these were in her mothers dress makers shop in the 1930's in Boston. The note also said they were made in one of the art departments of a college in Boston for her shop.(Can't find the note now but I'm sure I put it in a safe place) All of the dolls have lost their hair. The clothes are worn and in some cases pinned to the manikins with straight pins. The trim is glued in place. All of the clothes have pieces missing and stained areas. The base is wood (very nice) the manikins are glued to the base. The legs, shoes and body are carved from wood and the hands, arms and head are made of clay or something similar. The faces are hand painted. I have never seen anything like them and was not sure what category to put them in. Manikins, Hand Made, Folk? Amazing that they have survived. Even with all of their little problems I think that that are very unique and love them. I love the boots with this outfit and her red hair. All Four are listed separately and can be viewed under my listings Boy sold
