1930s Franklin Delano Roosevelt Fdr Original Political Art By Jerry Doyle For Sale1930s FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT FDR ORIGINAL POLITICAL ART by JERRY DOYLE Thanks for taking a look at our listings. The item shown is the one being sold. Jerry Doyle spent most of his career at The Philadelphia Record, The Philadelphia Daily News and The Philadelphia Inquirer. Doyle's support for the New Deal meant that his cartoons generally expressed support for President Roosevelt, whom he depicted as tall, imposing, powerful, and larger-than-life. Doyle’s early and continual criticism towards Hitler and Mussolini made him the only American cartoonist to be put on the Nazi hit list.
Featured here is a Doyle classic from the late-1930s showing President Roosevelt with his arm around "The South" (Yes, the South looks like Col. Sanders), apparently lamenting the "Northern Exploitation of Southern Labor". The peasants in the piece are represented by Unemployment, Low Wages and Share Croppers. Titled "Tobacco Road" for the New York Post. 15" x 18" and in fine shape on thinner artist's poster board. For what it's worth, websites specializing in this kind of material list original Doyles for upwards of $1,000.
