1930's Gulf Refining Co. 60"x27" Porcelain Sign Oil Gasoline Rare Antique Gulf For Sale
Up for sale is this old Gulf porcelain sign. It is completely original from the 1930's and measures 27 1/2" wide by 60" tall. It is heavy, weighs appx 23 pounds. The sign says Gulf Refining Co. so I guess this was before it became Gulf Oil. The finish is still mostly shiny and the colors are bright. (photos show reflected light from sign, no flash and indirect indoor lighting) No holes in the old sign, but looks like it stopped a few bullets along the way. Could be restored or leave it as it is. Check out the hats on the people in the car, definitely from olden days. Just bought a very old and very weathered KILGORE Oil Co. sign that will be up for sale in the next few days. It is round, 35 1/2 inches in diameter, and is painted metal (guess it's steel). This may be one of the last survivors of its' kind because I believe they were bought out by one of the majors fairly early in the game. Please check back on my listings later this week to see it.
