1930s Vintage Fdr Bronze/copper Clock Man Of The Hour Roosevelt Pre Wwii Bar For Sale
FRANKLIN D ROOSEVELT BRONZE/COPPER MANTLE MOTION CLOCK c.1934 'MAN OF THE HOUR'This pre-WWII clock shows FDR at the wheel guiding of our country and no doubt celebrates his repeal and ending prohibition in December of 1933. You can seethe bartender (FDR himself?)shaking a cocktail as his arm moves up and down with each second behind the bar. The clock stands about 15.25" tall, 10.25" wide, and 4.25" deep. It is a cast metal bronze/copper piece that weighs about 4.5 pounds and is in working condition but I do not know how well it actually keeps time (it is over 70 years old). This is an estate find that is in good condition for its age and does have one repair made to the metal area of the wheel between the 7 and 8 o'clock position that takes a close eye to notice (some metal had broken away). The clock face dial looks great with a little fading from age and the glass is intact without any cracks and looks quite clear. Looking up from the underside (see photo) you can see the old mechanical clock mechanism with several gears and springs and the face states it was made by the United Clock Corp. Brooklyn, NY. Note that I will add a piece of tape to the mechanism before shipping to stop the clock from running so the post office does not think I am sending a time bomb so you will need to remove it to start the clock running again upon arrival.Please offer with confidence as I offer refunds and the item will be shipped with a tracking number.
