Up for offers is a very ornate, unique and not often seen, 1931 Crosley "Johnny Smoker" radio.
Introduced to Crosley dealers in April 1931, the "Johnny Smoker"is a Crosleymodel 48. Itemploys the same five tube chassis found in the Crosley "Widget"and covers the AM broadcast band.
The "Johnny Smoker" cabinet has a "Repwood" front panel and is veneered in walnut on the sides and top.
This beautiful radio cabinet is in outstanding physical condition. There is no warped or missing veneer and the cabinet is solid as a rock. All repwood is intact with no visbile flaws. The Crosley crest logo, while usually missing on most repwood models, is intact.
The chassis was electronically restored about 20 years ago but due to lack of use,etc.now just hums.
The set has period reproduction grille cloth and retainsits original knobs. The thick cloth covered line cordand plug are also original to this set and in excellent condition.
Dimensions of this hard to find, unique andgreat lookingradio are:22 1/4inches tall,13 1/4inches wide and12 inches deep.
To insure safe arrival,the set will be double bubble wrapped, carefully packed and insured for its full value.
