1931 Vega Senator Original Five String Open Back Banjo:
Up for offer is a 1931 Vega Senator 5 String Banjo. This is an original 5 string and not a conversion from a tenor. It is rare to find an original Vega 5 string from the 1930's as most of their production totals from that era were, 4 string Tenor and Plectrum Banjos. The Senator is basically a Little Wonder Model that is made of Mahogany instead of Maple. It has the standard little wonder tone ring. This banjo shows normal dings and scratches and there is much wear on the nickel plated metal parts but overall this is sound and in playing condition. The neck is straight and at a very good angle. The string action is low with a 5/8ths height bridge. The neck plays right up to the last fret with no buzzing or fretting out. The banjo has no cracks or repairs. The pot is 10-15/16 inches had has a skin head. The tailpiece is not original. The tuners are the original Grovers and they work well. The scale is 26-3/4 inches. This banjo plays and sounds super. You can buy a good new import open back banjo for $800.00 to $1400.00 dollars or for about the same money get an 80+ year old vintage banjo made by one of the best banjo makers of all times. There is no case with this sale but I pack super well. The banjo will arrive safely. Winner to pay $40.00 dollars shipping in the lower 48 states.
