1933 1st Mein Kampf Adolf Hitler My Battle Nazi Wwii World War Ii Germany German For Sale
My Battle, by Adolf Hitler. Abridged and Translated by E T S Dugsdale Hitler, Adolf. Boston/NY: Houghton Mifflin Company, c1933. TRUE 1st Edition.Hitlers autobiography of Hate that changed the world as we know it. In 1922, Hitler planned a pamphlet to be called
'Settling Accounts.' In it he intended to describe the ineffectiveness
of the right~wing parties associated with Nazism in its earliest days.
In 1923, Hitler was jailed in company with men willing and able to
assist him with his writing. With the help of these collaborators, chief
among them Rudolf Hess, the pamphlet became a book. 'Settling Accounts'
became MEIN KAMPF. In 1925, the book was published. It was a failure.
In 1927, a second volume was published. It was no more successful than
the first. However, as Hitler's political power grew, the publishers,
eager to retrieve their loss, pressed the party members to purchase the
book. MEIN KAMPF became a best~seller. In 1933, two publishers realized
the importance of this book. They were Houghton Mifflin Company in
America and Hurst & Blackett in England. The publication rights for
the entire book were obtained, and the preparation of an abridged
English translation by Capt. E. T. S. Dugdale was begun. In America the
book was published with the Houghton Mifflin Company imprint, in the
face of fierce criticism. The importance of the book was widely
recognized by reviewers and columnists. It had a successful sale, but
did not reach the nation's best~seller lists. MEIN KAMPF, or MY BATTLE, must be read and constantly
remembered as a specimen of the demagoguery that people can believe and
that always menaces the world when men grow tired of thinking for
themselves. TRUE 1st EDITION; Copyright date of 1933 on verso of title, w/ timeline in prelims extending to Jan. 30, 1933. Book offered to American readers in an English
