1933 Repeal Of Prohibition Tin Litho Advertising Beer Tray - Big Bad Wolf:
Rare and wonderful, ca1933 Tin Lithograph Anti-Prohibition / Repeal of Prohibition, Serving Tray / Beer Tray depicting the Three Little Pigs enjoying mugs of Beer while the "Big Bad Wolf" of Prohibition stands behind a fence marked "Repeal"!!!
This outstanding, Repeal of Prohibition Tin Litho Tray measures approx. 13” in diameter and was issued in celebration of the Repeal of Prohibition in 1933. Although the graphics are not by Disney, the image is a play on the Three Little Pigs cartoon. The Three Little Pigs are seen dancing and celebrating the repeal of Prohibition. All three are hoisting large mugs of beer - two toast each other in celebration while the third thumbs his nose at the figure of the "Big Bad Wolf" of Prohibition who rages impotently behind the fence marked "Repeal". A large keg of beer dominates the scene and one of the pigs (the diligent laborer who built his house of bricks) has eyes that are represented as x's - the symbol of inebriation.
Although the Tray is neither dated nor signed by the manufacturer it was surely issued either in support of or in celebration of the passage of the 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which repealed the 18th Amendment that prohibited the sale of alcoholic beverages in the United States. The meaning of the ditty "Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf" takes on new meaning here as a nation celebrates the end of the era of Prohibition!!
This very beautiful, ca1933 Anti-Prohibition / Repeal of Prohibition Serving Tray is not a reproduction, reissue or restrike but is an original ca1933 Beer Tray manufactured either in support of or in celebration of the Repeal of Prohibition.
This wonderful, Anti Prohibition / Repeal of Prohibition Tin Lithograph Beer Tray is in very good condition. The colors are bright and vibrant and the Tray displays nicely. Please contact us if there are any issues regarding the cost of shipping.
