King Edward VIII's Luncheon Menu from RMS Queen Mary 1936!!
Menu Signed by Joe E Brown ( USA Actor )
Up for sale is a truly one of a kind item! This is King Edward VIII's luncheon menu from the RMS Queen Mary on Sept 9, 1936! The menu was saved as it was signed by a fellow passenger, the great American actor Joe E Brown!
Just a short two months later, Edward would abdicate his throne for love and his proposal to American Wallis Simpson. King Edward only reigned from his father's death to his abdication on December 11th this very year of 1936.
His Majesty was cruising the Mediterranean in Sept / Oct and also took the voyage from UK to New York in September of 1936. Joe E Brown is shown on the passenger list and signed at lunch for the King. It's a one of a kind item, from a monarch that stepped down for personal pursuits and so had a very short reign.
This comes from an avid collector of entertainment and US socialite history and was one of his treasured items. I am helping with some of their items as I have been on with my father's box office items from Detroit shows 1977 - 1995. His close friend was the lead attorney for a promotion agency in Detroit and agent to several stars. This comes from his personal collection. He was first successful in New York City and acquired this in 1974 just before returning to Detroit and really taking off.
