1937 Edward VIII Proposed Coronation MedallionHere is a commemorative medallion which was designed and produced in Britain in preparation for the coronation of Edward VIII, which never happened of course, because famously he abdicated the throne after 326 days to marry the love of his life, Wallis Simpson.It's made from brass I would say with a gilded finish which remains shiny and looks resistant to tarnishing. The portrait artwork has been attributed to Pinches (Portraits Of A Prince by J Giordano) and the artwork is impressive. It is a shame that it shows the amount of wear evident in my images. There is no clue to the maker on the medal but a lot of these types of medal were struck in Birmingham and this probably was too. The edge is plain.It is 35mm in diameter and weighs 17.9g.I'm happy to start this off at 99p as usual and there's .
