At the end of the Second WorldWar, the mood was geared towards reconstruction, efficiency andpragmatism. Jaeger-LeCoultre turned its inventive genius to the area ofautomatic round timepieces, forerunners of the Master Control line. Thefirst watch housed a Jaeger-LeCoultre 476/12A caliber driven by a‘bumper’ weight.
Today\'s sale showcases aclassic LeCoultre watch equipped with JLC\'s very fine first automaticmovement. So advanced was the movement it was adapted by Vacheron &Constantin for use in early automatics of theirs (see comparative photobelow).
It features a rugged waterproofcase and vintage-restored silver military style dial with luminousnumbers and hands and prominent sweep seconds track.
Our watchmaker has freshlycleaned and oiled the movement.
We have alsoinstalled a brand new Teju strap, making this classic LeCoultre readyfor years of enjoyment and use.
