They're a lot of electric neon Budweiser Beer signs out there; however,ones such as this one from the World War II era, not so much.This neon sign was extracted from John Vagianelis' ValenciaRestauranton Broadway in Albany, New York circa 1959.It was immediately crated and placed into dry storage.Rediscovered for the first time inFebruary 2013.Ouradmirationfor American craftsmanship was never greater than whenwe plugged theoriginaltransformer into a wall outlet(after being dormant for more than 50 years)and we'll let thephotographsprovided say the rest...
Immediately,our first instinct was to have this neon sign professionally restored.Having located one of the few local craftsmanwith the expertiseto repair & restore this gas tube sign,we immediatelyscheduled anappointmentto begin the restoration onMonday February25th.Meanwhile, we were just wondering what this sign might be worthin its current non-restored condition, so we are offering it up on this low-reserve sale...
Restoration of this neon sign will requirerefusing the red exterior glass tube ringandpermanently reconnectingand sealing the two (+/-) transformer wires.Once it has been fully-restored to its former glory,what we will have here isa fully-functioningAntique WWII Era Neon Signworth between $1,000 to $1,500
Regardless of whetherthis antique is fully-restored, or maintained in its currentcondition,it isprobably best suitedfor the skilled restorer, antique re-seller,or anastutecollector (not a freshman college dormitory).
