ITEM:You are offerding on a vintage original 1941 poster with Spanish language text advertising the Spring/Easter festivals of Seville (Sevilla) by Francisco Hohenleiter. The original painting which this was used for this poster is housed in a permanent museum collection in Spain, and they describe the importance of this poster and artist as such: "Francisco Hohenleiter de Castro. 1941. Lithograph. Hohenleiter is one of the authors who first introduced the new techniques of European style posters in Sevilla, since until this time, the majority of Sevillian posters were closer to conventional painting than advertising propaganda and impact." Posters from this era from Spain are hard to find, as the deprivations of the Great Depression coupled with the Spanish Civil War and continent wide conflict of World War II meant that much was lost, destroyed, and put to military use. The idealized appeal to tradition, and the beauty and serenity of Spanish culture, as seen in the Andalusian style and beauty of the figures int he foreground, are all the more moving and compelling when seen in the context of the time. Even without the history, this is a beautiful and important vintage advertising poster.
