WWII US General of the Army Dwight D Eisenhower Signal Corps Photo 1944 468 x 10 Signal Corps US Army Photo, Dec. 1944 - Jan 1946

This photo print is from a original actual US Army Signal Negative from the December 1944 to January 1946 era.

I was able to obtain an original 8 x 10 negative taken by the US Army signal Corps of General of the Army (5-star) Dwight D. Eisenhower (with the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Forces sleeve patch). The negative was recently obtained from an estate sale, and was a part of a WWI and WWII era private military collection of photos of WWII Generals.

This is a very neat photo from an actual negative, showing a picture of General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower, probably taken in late December 1944 to 1946 era. I have been unable to find any resources about this photo other than, this photo or a similar photo was cut out and used for a US Army Recruiting ad in The Saturday Evening Post magazine in January 1946 as shown in the reference listed photo (not included).

“This very well could be a un-circulated photo, not sure..”

The negative is marked on front, with the Signal Corps US Army Stamp stamped in the lower L/H corner, and the R/H corner bottom has a # 209867.

A little history about the photo from various resources:

Dwight D. “Ike” Eishenhower 1890 – 1969

SUMMARY; Dwight David \"Ike\" Eisenhower (October 14, 1890 – March 28, 1969) was the 34th President of the United States from 1953 until 1961 and a five-star general in the United States Army. During the Second World War, he served as Supreme Commander of the Allied forces in Europe, with responsibility for planning and supervising the successful invasion of France and Germany in 1944–45. In 1951, he became the first supreme commander of NATO.

As President, he oversaw the cease-fire of the Korean War, kept up the pressure on the Soviet Union during the Cold War, made nuclear weapons a higher defense priority, launched the Space Race, enlarged the Social Security program, and began the Interstate Highway System. He was the last World War I veteran to serve as U.S. president, and the last president born in the 19th century. Eisenhower ranks highly among former U.S. presidents in terms of approval rating.

**In November 1942, he was appointed Supreme Commander Allied (Expeditionary) Force of the North African Theater of Operations (NATOUSA) through the new operational Headquarters A(E)FHQ.

**In recognition of his senior position in the Allied command, on December 20, 1944, he was promoted to General of the Army.

**Eisenhower served as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army from 1945–48.

**In 1948, Eisenhower became President of Columbia University. In December 1950, he took leave from the university when he became the Supreme Commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and given operational command of NATO forces in Europe. Eisenhower retired from active service on May 31, 1952, and resumed the university presidency, which he held until January 1953.

**Was Elected and served two terms as a United States President 1953–1961

For era / time dating; Received 5 star General of the Army rank Dec. 20, 1944, and the Saturday Evening Post magazine was produced and date January 1946, so the negative should date from December 1944 to January 1946 era.
