MOVADO Vintage Triple Calendar with Moonphase - Stainless Steel - The
A Complicated Vintage Timepiece - 1 Year Warranty
An Elegant and Complicated Vintage Timepiece.
During Movado's glorious period from 1912 through the 1950's, when such innovations as the polyplan movement, Calendomatic, and exceptional in-house chronographs pushed the envelope of horological technology, and original designs such as the Museum watch took their place in history, their wristwatches enjoyed a level of prestige reserved only for works of the very fine watchmakers.
Usually when things are complicated, it means more stress, more work, and more effort, but at the end of the day, it's worth it. The same holds true for vintage wristwatches, where gifted artisans and engineers from years gone by labored months and years to create complicated timepieces that transcend art and talent.
When it comes to vintage wristwatches, the highest realms of respect and value are reserved for these watches that do more than merely tell time.
The elegant and complicated Movado Celestograph watch featured in today's sale is an example of one of the company's sought-after vintage timepieces. Powered by an in-house made Movado movement, the watch possesses advanced capabilities that track the date, day of the week, month, and phases of the moon.
The stainless steel case is in excellent condition. The two-tone silver dial is also in excellent condition, an older vintage restoration. And the movement is clean.
Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate. Please note: A published example of this model can be found in Fritz von Osterhausen's work The Movado History, 1996, p. 125.
