1950's Usn Type G-1 Jacket With Patches ~ 1958-59 Uss Yorktown Asiatic Tour For Sale

This Vintage 1950's USN G-1 Style Flight Jacket was purchased by a friend of mine and I am listing it for him. It is as purchased and no additional patches have been added.

Jacket is good quality leather and has NO rips, tears or losses anywhere to the exterior (see photos). It remains intact overall and shows average use commensurate with its age (see photos). Waistband and cuffs are original to the jacket and are basically solid overall (see photos). However cuffs will need repair or replacing if jacket is for everyday wear (see photos). Fur style collar is complete/intact with no dry rot and is excellent overall (see photos). Reverse has the typical white painted USN stencil (see photos). Zipper run is the original small tooth Conmar but the small pull tab is missing & has been replaced with a key chain (still works - see photos). There are no USN perforations stamped to the inner lapel which is correct for this early style G-1. Front chest area has two period made/sewn squadron patches that I am unfamiliar with (see photos). There are no stitch holes to indicate that a nametag was ever sewn to the jacket. Left upper arm has another squadron patch I am unfamiliar with above a Naval Air Station - Whiting Field patch (see photos). Right upper arm has a period made/sewn bullion on wool squadron patch with the motto, "AD OPUS CAPAX" above a CVS-10 (Yorktown) 100 carrier landings patch for the years 1958-59 (see photos). All patches to the chest, back and arms show considerable wear and age soiling (see photos). Reverse has a Airasron 37 - US Asiatic Fishing Fleet 1958-59 patch above a US Naval Air Station -Annapolis patch (see photos). All patches are guaranteed period made/sewn.

Lining is clean/solid overall with some minor losses near the label area. Nomenclature label present indicates manufacture by Cagleco Sportswear (see photos). Size is indicated as 40 but jacket fits the mannequin as a size 36. Interior slash pocket is present with a working snap.

Measurements for this jacket are: shoulder seam to shoulder seam across the back – 18.5 inches, shoulder seam to the end of the cuff material – 25 inches, base seam of collar to bottom of waistband material - 25.5 inches. Armpit to armpit across the front - 23 inches (expanded).

This is an interesting USS Yorktown 1958-59 Asiatic Fleet tour G-1 that remains clean/solid overall. It has some great period patches and would be great for wear or display. Guaranteed an original period piece as described.
