1950's Doepke Rossmoyne American Lafrance Toy Aerial Ladder - Over 30" Long For Sale
FIRST DUE LADDER TRUCK TO MY SISTER'S DOLL HOUSE IN THE BACKYARD - where it hadinexplicably levitated from attic storageand almost simultaneously combusted requiring the services of my Rossymoyne fire trucks. Alas, my confession (for which proseutionis hopefully barred by the statute of limitations) after all these years. In my opinion, the 1950's vintage Rossymoyne fire trucks were, hands down, the greatest toy fire trucks ever made. The steering worked and the ladder raised and extended. They were based upon the Classic American Fire Truck, the American LaFrance (the General Motors of the Fire Truck Industry in the 1950's) 700 Series, open cab fire truck. These were the first additions to what eventually became an extensive fire truck collection. My parents purchased this truck as a Christmas present for me in 1956 or possibly 1957 to the best of my recollection. As a child (and even more so as an adult) I have always been fascinated by fire trucks. The functionality that is engineered into these vehicles is absolutely incredible. Plus, being big and red ("real fire trucks are red, period - end of argument) with flashing lights, sirens and air horns - they are truly impressive when responding. When I was a weelad of 7 or 8, my parents would drop me off for Sunday School on Sunday morning. Into the Sunday School Wing side door I would go, down the stairs, out the front door and over to the City's Central Fire Station located next door. It housed a ladder truck, pumper and squad - all open cab American LaFrance 700's. As I look back, those firemen (and the were all men in those days) were really nice to put up with me. I also learned to tell time and be back at the Church in time to meet my parents for the Sunday Service. I never outgrew my fascination with the big red trucks, eventually becomeing a state certified volunteer firefighter and EMT in Texas years later. This sale is for the Rossmoyne ladder truck my parents gave me. It is well used but in pretty good condition for it's 55 year's of age. The only missing part is one of the "diamond plate" piecesfrom the running board of the truck. It still has the original paint, 2 ground ladders and fire bell. The string the extended the ladder has come undone (but is still with the truck)and the ladder no longer extends.
I am a collector, not an Dealer. I am using as my version of a yard / garage sale to sell items that I have collected over the years that are now stored away in drawers or on closet shelves gathering dust and deserve a better fate. My Wife is starting to refer to these sales, with apologies to Edgar Allen Poe, as my premature estate sale. I am listing items for sale for 7 days. I am starting the sales at what I believe to be a low starting offer based upon prior sales of comparable items, and without a reserve since my objective is to sell the items at the market price rather than a predetermined minimum to make a certain profit level (in manycases, I don't even remember what I paid for an item). I ship once a week, on Fridays. I will ship all items for which I have received confirmed payment by12:00 noon (Eastern Time) the previous day (Thursday).I accept only PayPal for payment. Payment is expected within5 days of the close of the sale unless prior arrangements have been made. The pictures included with this sale are of the actual item being saleed. I have described the condition of the item to the best of my knowledge and ability. All sales are as is and final. Since I normally do not accept returns, please ask any questions prior to offerding. If you have any questions or problems, please contact me. I do accept some foreign buyers. Foreign buyers are responsible for all import andtax / fee costs associated with the purchase of this item. The USPS recently raised its rates (in my opinion by a considerable amount) and changed its terms and conditions of some services. One of the effects appears to be closing the gap between Parcel Post and Priority Mail. Therefore, if the cost difference between Priority Mail and Parcel Postis less than $1.00 or it is a high value item, I plan to use Priority Mail. For USA buyers, the shipping costs shown are for the 48 lower continental states only. Shipping to Hawaii or Alaska will be higher so if you live in one of those 2 states, please wait to pay until I send you an invoice. For foreign buyers, the rates shownare for Canada and the United Kingdom. The rateswill vary from country to country, and will most likly be higher than Canada.Canadian ratesmay vary based upon location. If you are a foreign buyer FROM ANY COUNTRY and win an sale, please wait until I send you a invoice before paying. This is a big, heavy truck and, unfortunately the shipping rates reflect it.
