1950s (?) Ring Ding Bomb Gum + Charm Vending Machine With 100 Capsules & Prizes:
Here's a great vintage vending machine that dates back to the late 1940s or early 1950s. It's the RING DING BOMB plastic vending machine. The screened decal on the plastic dome says this machine vends "bubble gum and a toy," both contained inside the same plastic vending capsule. This machine operates on nickels, and it works great! There are no chips or cracks on the machine, although there's some very light surface wear from more than six decades of use and handling. There's also some tarnish on the metal plate on the bottom of the machine. Most of the parts on this machine are made of sturdy plastic, except for the bottom plate, center rod, and lock. There's no key for the lock, but it can be turned by hand to attach it to the center rod -- or you can buy a new keyed replacement lock. The original instruction card is still attached to the bottom of the machine. And the original replacement parts card is also here. Back in the 1950s, you could mail in this card to get whatever replacement parts were needed -- for free! That's right -- the Ring King company would send out locks, domes, and any other parts for free! This machine also comes with 100 prize capsules inside. These are not the original capsules that the machine was designed to vend -- these capsules dates back to the 1980s. Each capsule contains a vintage vending machine prize. Because these capsules are not the exact same size as the capsules that the machine was designed to vend, the machine sometimes jams when the prize should be dispensed. These prizes are included to make the machine look more authentic when it is displayed. This machine would make a great addition to any collection of vintage coin-operated devices. This machine is designed as a countertop vending machine; I don't know if I can be mounted on a stand or not.
