1950's Spectator Loafers- Johnston & Murphy For Frank Brothers 9 D For Sale
Welcome to the Time Machine! You're traveling waaaaaay
back. To the days of the Dapper Dandy & the BELOVED SPECTATOR SHOE!
Way back, when US makers ruled the Top Quality Shoe Roost,
the Spectator Shoe was the ultimate expression of elegance. Worn by the wealthy and Famous as an “Event
Shoe”, they were seen on the feet of those at the top of the social scene. From Tennis Matches to Horse Races to Musical
exhibitions & Broadway Plays, if a REAL GENTLMAN was going to be seen in public,
a Top Quality Spectator shoe was an absolute MUST!!!!
Traditionally made of either brown or black Calfskin &
white suede, they were also made using many combinations of calf, exotics,
suedes, and in a wide array of colors.
Sadly, this classic style is EXTREMELY hard to find, and impossible to find in
the quality displayed by the Top US Shoe Makers of the 1930’s, 1940’s &
1950’s.
