1951 Martin 00-17:
$200

1951 Martin 00-17The Martin 00-17 has it origins in Martin Guitars foray into the Hawaiian music craze at the turn to the 20th Century. The all mahogany design was a nod to the solid koa wood instruments built by Hawaiian islanders.
The 00 Martin has a distinct sound, with far more projection and bass than you'd expect from a smaller guitar. This particular guitar has held its own in a variety of settings and has the note articulation you expect from a vintage Martin.
This guitar is not a museum piece, it's been played and it shows. Structurally, a minor repair to a small split on the treble side of the sound hole (a typical repair need for these guitars). Cosmetically, it presents nicely with lots of play wear (dings, rubs, scratches) but no signs of abuse. There are several longitudinal lacquer checks on the top that on first look present as cracks. There is no movement on these checks and we've examined them with high wattage lamps and see no light leaking through the top. Neck set is spot on and bridge is solid, unbowed and with plenty of room on the saddle to take the action wherever you like. Frets were last leveled and dressed about a year ago and it plays nicely all the way up and down the neck.
Here's your chance own the same model guitar Woody Guthrie used to kill fascists and Bob Dylan used to cut his folk teeth. Specifications:
