I rode this bike for years until I decided to take it apart to restore it. Never got around to restore it, in the meantime the seat deteriorated, was barely passable to begin with. Bike could be put back together with a good regrease and be ridden easily as is or have a full restore done to it. Rack tab that connects to the seat post clamp is broken off but could be fixed with a new piece of sheet metal and some light welding or epoxy. Never rode the bike with it on. All paint is original. There are a couple cracks in the bottom of the fenders. Rims are covered in surface rust but would be good for rechroming. Horn and rear light worked at one point. Tires were in bad shape when I got it and the vintage tires I rode it with eventually cracked as well so no tires are included. NOS cranks and chainring included. Pedals are two types of Torrington's one I believe is a Meteor type. Original neck, bars and Columbia stamped grips, rusty but could be rechromed easily.
This is the real deal that all the repros were made to resemble but these originals are much better with subtle features you don't get with the repros. You won't find a better springer fork in my opinion. This one actually absorbs the bumps like a fork should unlike Schwinn's of the time. Please ask for any detail photos you don't see here. There were two greens available in the early 50's and this is theDesert Green version. Two-toned w/cream and red pinstripe. Color ID taken from original brochure which will also be up for sale.
Buyer pays all shipping to the ConUS and Canada.
The bike is heavy and large so good chance it may go in two boxes but it will be boxed up properly. Once I get a chance to box it up I'll recalculate shipping. Only chance I get to ship is on Saturdays so to the winning buyer the bike will ship out the Saturday following the end of sale and once payment is received in full. Local buyers are welcome to pickup as well. I won't end the sale early on this one, please don't ask. It starts low with so offer with confidence!
