vintage 1953 Martin 0-18 parlor size guitar -- serial number: 138087 --
-- the body measures 18 1/4 in. - 10 and 13 1/2 in. across the bouts - neck is 20 1/4 for a length overall of 38 1/2 in., not counting the peg - 4 in. thick -- mahogany body and neck / rosewood fret-board and bridge --
-- this guitar has had quite a history and is a \'Survivor\' in the truest sense: it went through a fire in the 1960s only to fall from a high perch during the Oregon earthquake of 1993, up in Salem --
-- pretty rough: sadly survived a fire to fall during an earthquake - soundboard has some edge wear with a small spliced repair but worse is the abrading to the surface and chipping about the rosette (it may need replacing entirely) -- it has separated from the sides along the bottom edge -- trim veneer about the peg is missing -- the side has a hole in one spot that has taken a small bite out of the bottom panel as well / on the other side there is some cracking -- additionally the finish is pretty much gone in some places -- has \'Grover\' pegs but they don\'t seem to be original to the guitar -- still despite the damage, when I held the soundboard down by hand and tightened a few strings, the tone was surprisingly rich and a bit strident ---- we are always listing Relics of History -- -- **** --
