1954 Martin 000-18 Guitar:
1954 Martin 000-18 in excellent used condition. Although possessing all of the typical signs of use & wear that you would expect, it is structurally in wonderful shape. Everything on it appears to be original with the exception of the bridge-pins, which are contemporary buffalo horn pins with multi-colored brass-lined pearl dots. No detectable cracks anywhere, except for some finish cracks on the top lower bout. The guitar does not appear to have ever been dropped or damaged in any way, but has the appearance of being well-used & well cared for at the same time. The bridge does not look like it has ever been off, & there is still room on the saddle to reduce the string height. The action measures 1/8 of an inch at the 12th fret from the top of the fret-board to the bottom of the low E string, & at the 14th fret it is 5/32. The saddle is at an angle, so the action is gradually lower as you go down the strings. There are no buzzes or issues. Intonation & tuning are great. There is some pitting on the fret-board up to the 6th fret, but not extreme, what you might expect from regular use. The corresponding frets also have some wear on them, but again, nothing to warrant re-fretting. The guitar did have a Dearmond sound-hole pick-up with volume control on it previously, so there are 2 screw holes at the sound-hole, & 2 screw holes with a rectangular impression in the finish on the top/near bottom edge/lower-bout where the controls were. Please look carefully at the pictures to see all of this. On the top upper-bout & lower-bout above & below the fret-board extension there is scuffing & finish wear.....I would say not too bad, but the sign of a well-played instrument, & not as easy to capture in the photo. It is currently strung with .011's & has been kept humidified. I will ship it in a leather trimmed gig bag. These guitars were built to be reliable & to be the musician's workhorse, & this particular one seems ready to go the next 59 laps! It has great tone & projection & is an excellent specimen from the early '50's. As far as I know, I am the 2nd owner, & the original owner was from Maui & played slack key in the islands. Due to circumstances, I must sell, but am hoping that it will go to a good home! I am happy to receive any questions you may wish to ask. I am advertising locally as well, & reserve the right to end the sale at any time for a local buyer. The Buy It Now is $3100, but I will carefully consider any offers at any time. Thanks for looking!

I am considering removing this sale & re-listing it with the terms of sale changed....this is because of an awful experience which I had recently with a dishonest/dishonorable buyer who knew how to game , & I do not want to ever find myself in that position again. Until learns how to do a better job of protecting Sellers as well as buyers from the wrong-headedness & dishonesty of some people, I am going to need to offer things on a different basis, & if you are reading this, then when I re-list you will be notified if this was on your "Watch-list", & you will see that my Condition description & Terms have been modified to protect myself. I believe in being fair to buyers & in full disclosure, so that people will be able to make informed decisions, & once those decisions are made that all parties have responsibilities. I am weighing my options here, but if the listing ends early, you will know the reason why.
