ITEM: You are offerding on a Matson ocean lines advertising poster (particularly the cruise ships SS Marisposa and SS Monterey) promoting Pacific ocean cruising to New Zealand, and trading on the exotic beauty of the island nation with an image rich with lush colors, a native styled pin up girl, and some totems associated with Polenysia for Americans in the 1950s. This image was created by Louis Macouillard for Matson in 1955, (Macouillard was stationed in the Pacific in World War II and these tropical scenes became a popular subject for him during his career as an illustrator) and this is a vintage and original issuance of the poster. Measures 19 1/2" x 28"100% guaranteed vintage and original.
CONDITION: In fine condition with some scattered light creasing that will flatten when framed/linen backed, minor edge wear and some loss and small pin holes in the upper corners. Small soiling spots to verso and a very minor tear to the middle of the poster that has been archivally taped on verso.
