1956 Mid Century Modern Large Size Orrefors Sculptural Glass Vase Nils Landberg For Sale
RARE ORIGINAL MID CENTURY MODERN TALL NILS LANDBERG SCULPTURAL ART GLASS VASE, DESIGNED FOR SWEDISH FIRM ORREFORS, 1956
Rare very tall handblown studio art glass vase by Nils Landberg, designed for Swedish firm Orrefors, c 1956. Hand engraved signature underneath the base, very stylish design with off-centered colored sommerso part, beautiful grey green deep color, all cased in thick heavy clear glass. Nils Landberg worked for famous Swedish glassmakers for 45 years (!), the highlight of his long and successful career was when winning the 1957 Milan Triennale gold medal for his Tulip glass series. In the mid 50s he created some memorable very elegant designs of heavily cased glass pieces with organic forms, some with dark colored underlays, dark grey green - such as this vase -, smokey grey and deep dark blue.
