My uncle Bill was an accountant for Mattel in the late 50's. At Chanukah in 1959 he gave me and my three female cousins Barbies that came from the first production line. This was my first and only Barbie. The body, face and hair are intact. The dress is old and loved. The stand and shoes are missing but, as you can see, the original box is included, and, while old, she still cuts quite a glamorous figure with her sunglasses, hat and fruit bearing purse. I was wrong on the date. The box shows this to be a 1958 Barbie. It also describes her as a "Dressed Display Doll". Ain't she sweet after all these years?
