1960 Red Wing Prismatique Belle Kogan Compote Turquoise And White #796:
9" tall and 9 1/2" across star bowl.
This is called Prismatique Belle Kogan Compote by Red Wing in the '60's and is numbered 796. It is accompanied by the following story.
Designer Belle Kogan found inspiration for her Prismatique line at the dentist's office in 1962. Struck by the faceted geometry of a tooth's roots, she fabricated a cardboard model that later served as the basis for the line. Cast in 15 different shapes and decorated with five different glazes, Prismatique becamemost popular.
This piece may not be of museum quality with crazing seen more in the photos than by eye, three small chips in the ridges of pedestal and three chips which have been glazed over. One of those is in the lip and the other at the bottom edge of the pedestal. It has one bad pimple on the turquoise of the main dish and at least four grit flaws. The creamy white lining of the bowl has three smallflea bitesand approximately 6grit pointsin the creamyglaze.
